Genital Herpes
Genital Herpes is occurred unilaterally, and is a less common cause of pain around the anus. The pain can be extreme and there is often numbness in the affected area as well. The condition can persist for weeks. There are usually red sores visible and the condition is very infective. Sexual contact should be avoided completely until the sores have healed. Genital Herpes has the unpleasant tendency of returning at intervals (much like a fever blister does), therefore the afflicted person is never rid of this virus - the virus just becomes inactive.
